C'est quoi un pélerin plume ? / What is a ultralight pilgrim ?

The feather Pilgrim

Pilgrim on the Camino de Santiago in France (GR65) and Spain (Camino Francès) in recent years, I have gained some experience in the equipment to bring on the Camino.

After having sent for years lists of equipment to other pilgrims preparing their departure to the camino, I opened this blog so that more people can benefit from my experience.

Walking light will prevent you form hurting your back. If your back is hurting already, having a very light bag will allow you to walk the Camino.

It will also allow those who have back pain or knee conditions to walk the camino without having to use carrying bag services or Carrix or Trollix (kind of high-tech wheelbarrows to carry your equipment)

Those services are effective but expensive when you use them for 60 days and they require to  book the next Albergue to have your bag sent there.

The expensive Carrix or Trollix are effective also but peole using them have a tendancy to overstuff them and anyway most often they take the roads and not the Camino itself which is usually too rough for a wheelbarrow, even a "higth tech" one.

Indeed, when you are reallly carefull about your equipment you  carry the same weight (around 5 kg) on your  back that those who have their belongings transported by carrying service, because they still have to keep a small day pack that contains their business rain, food and pharmacy.

So if you are interested to know the secrets of a backpack of about 5.5 kg with food and water to go to Compostela even in winter, read on!
